Some stores claim to be sweatshop free and/or fair-trade, but not many guarantee it, and most won’t provide proof. People Tree is different. They are proud of their dedication to being a sweatshop free retailer, and have a World Fair Trade Organization stamp of approval to back it up.
In other words, they guarantee that they follow Fair Trade best practices
People Tree aims to be 100% Fair Trade throughout our supply chain. People Tree is committed to the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) principles and we guarantee that the majority of our purchasing is Fair Trade. Our Fair Trade products are purchased from economically disadvantaged groups in the developing world.
They are also committed to sustainable manufacturing and overall business practices. Most of the cotton they use is organic and is not contaminated with chemicals.
The rest of our eco-policy is pretty straightforward. We promote natural and organic cotton farming. And we avoid using damaging chemicals in production (where possible, we use recycled and biodegradable substances instead). Also, we try to recycle everything we can, and always aim to protect water supplies and forests in the environments we work in.
People Tree is also friendly to vegans and provides an information page about their use of wool.
As for the fashion, there are many options available at People Tree. From organic cotton dresses to hand-woven dress shirts for men, People Tree has what you need to extend your sweat-free wardrobe.
